What's in a name?

I have been thinking a great deal about the name of our church lately!  I love "the deep" as a church name and the significance that is behind it on so many levels (you can read about this at our site).  It is really fun to see the name recognition we are gaining in this community and to see the word getting out about our new christian community!

The "name" that I have really been thinking about though is our website (www.outofthedeep.com), which has been somewhat confusing in that many think the church name is "out of the deep".  The reason for this name was, in part, because names like www.deep.com & www.thedeep.com were not available!  As the domain search pushed forward the reason I settled on "out of the deep" was because it struck me how we all have those moments of realization that we don't have what it takes to navigate life.  There are moments when our tanks are absolutely empty and in looking for internal substance we come up lacking!  It is our desire to see others and to ourselves encounter God in such a transformational way that we are able to live out of His deep love!
